Matthew Clark launches new app for businesses hit by Covid-19

On-trade supplier Matthew Clark has launched a new app that will allow pubs, restaurants and bars to operate delivery order and click and collect without any up-front costs.

The supplier said the move would allow their customers and other businesses affected by the new coronavirus measures to adapt and keep business going amid the dramatic change in the hospitality industry’s over the last month by managing orders for home delivery or click & collect more simply.

The new Local app can be set up simply, requiring a Stripe Connect account along with a logo, menu, and contact details, it said, while customers can order through the restaurant’s website and find local delivery using a postcode search.

The app has been developed by Bibendum, Matthew Clark & Tennent’s in the UK, and parent company C&C Gleeson’s in Ireland to help on-trade sites impacted by the spread of the Coronavirus, saying they had built it for “the survival of the on-trade”. It has absorbed all the costs of developing local and fees for joining, but is charging a 2% transaction fee on every order to offset a join up fee.

“We want to help the On Trade to fight back against Covid-19 and to keep trading. If just one business stays open as a result of LOCAL, then we will have succeeded,” a statement said.
