Seedlip to release non-alcoholic cocktail book

Distilled non-alcoholic spirits brand Seedlip is set to launch its debut cocktail book, featuring 100 recipes to make at home, as the non-alcoholic drinks trend gathers pace.

Seedlip’s first cocktail bar will be released in November

The recipes have been crafted by a collective of the world’s “best bartenders”, who offer their insight, ethos and techniques alongside each recipe.

Ben Branson, founder of Seedlip said: “Whether you’re a professional bartender or an at-home experimenter, I hope this book demonstrates that cocktails without alcohol, when taken seriously, can be both fun and taste great.”

Cocktails include The Grass is Greener, which is a blend of Seedlip’s Garden 108, meadow syrup and cut grass topped up with soda and garnished with a cucumber flower.

Its launch is another indication of the growing interest in non-alcoholic drinks, offering a grown up solution to what to drink when you are not drinking.

Lizzy Goudsmit, Penguin Random House commissioning editor, added: “[Seedlip] have transformed the non-alcoholic drinks market by creating Spirits that offer a grown-up drinking experience without the side effects.

“They are committed to natural ingredients, beautiful design and fresh, confident recipes and I’m hugely excited that Penguin are publishing their first cocktail book.”

Elsewhere, Seedlip is preparing to launch its first global pop-up no- and low-abv cocktail bar initiative.

N o l o will initially run for two nights in 16 bars worldwide, including Dandelyan in London, Walker Inn in Los Angeles, Trick Dog in SF, PS40 in Sydney and Tjoget in Stockholm, over 24-25 July.

Branson added: “Socialising should be about inclusivity not segregation and a focus on flavour and produce rather than alcohol content.”

Seedlip launched in the UK in 2015 and has since expanded into the US market. The non-alcoholic spirit is available in two flavour variants. Seedlip Spice 94 is a blend of individual copper-pot distillates including two barks, two spices and two citrus peels.

Seedlip Garden 108 is a “green and floral blend” of individual copper-pot distillates including handpicked peas and hay from Branson’s family farm and traditional herbs including spearmint, rosemary & thyme. Both are intended to be served long with tonic water.

The Seedlip Cocktail Book is available to pre-order via seedlipdrinks.com and will be published in hardback by Penguin Random House on 1 November 2018, priced at £14.99.
