Vinexpo Hong Kong 2018 full event schedule

One can easily get lost during Vinexpo Hong Kong between client meetings and attending different masterclasses. So we’ve rounded up all the major events that are planed for the three-day trade fair, day by day, to guide you through the most influential wine show taking place in the Asia-Pacific region this year.

Vinexpo conference in 2016

Taking place from 29-31 May at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai, this year’s fair will present close to 70 different events including masterclasses, seminars, tastings, panel discussions and awards ceremonies.

This year, the Country of Honour – Australia together with Wine Australia has a series of masterclasses examining grapes including Shiraz, Grenache and Bordeaux varieties in addition to its vast wine growing regions from McLaren Vale to Margaret River and Adelaide Hills.

Masterclasses focusing on wine producing regions such as Bordeaux, the Rhône Valley, Germany, Chile and Italy are spread out on the fair’s calendar as well.

Amid all the events, don’t forget to attend our Asian Personality Award 2018 during lunchtime on 30 May, hosted by the drinks business.

Nominated by a panel of leading figures in the international wine trade, the award for Asian Wine Personality recognises outstanding achievement in promoting wine within Asia, whether through viticulture and winemaking, or sales and marketing.

The first winner of the award in 2012 was Grace Vineyards’ CEO, Judy Chan, followed by Vincent Cheung, grand master of the Commanderie de Bordeaux in Asia, in 2014, and the creators of the hugely popular Japanese manga series The Drops of God, Yuko and Shin Kibayashi, in 2016. This year, the recipient is an equally, if not more, influential heavyweight in the wine world.

To find out who the winner is, please join the awards ceremony at 12.30-2pm on Level 3 at the entrance of the Grand Foyer of HKCEC. The event is by invitation only, if interested, please contact Ivy Ng at ivy.ng@unionpress.co.uk.

Following the awards ceremony is a unique masterclass featuring wines from China’s leading winery Great Wall, jointly hosted by the drinks business. This will be the first masterclass by Great Wall in Hong Kong with eight examples of Great Wall winery’s finest wines being presented to the trade and media audience at this masterclass at The Library on the mezzanine level at Grand Hyatt Hotel from 3 to 5pm. You can register here.
