Bob Maybank of London City Bond dies

London City Bond (LCB) has announced that customer services manager Bob Maybank has died.

Bob Maybank joined LCB in 2002.

Maybank joined LCB, which handles distribution and storage in the drinks industry, in 2002 after a long career with wine and spirits retailer Unwins.

Maybank “rapidly established himself as a key member of the management team as well as a good and close friend to both colleagues and customers,” according to a note LCB sent out on Monday, 15 January.

“He will be remembered with warm affection for his dry sense of humour, his strong loyalty, his calmness in the face of adversity, and his charm and ability to make any company feel relaxed and at ease,” it added.

“Bob loved his sport and was in strong demand behind the wicket, he loved military history, but above all he was a strong family man, and we at LCB are honoured that he included us within that family.”

How very sad, he was no age. A very kind guy, wine trade through and through, commiserations to his family, friends and colleagues.

A delightfully humble and incredibly intelligent friend. I had the privilege to meet Bob through our dealership via London City Bond. Bob had such incredible integrity and measured all events with a detailed eye and a wonderful sense of proportion. I and colleagues alike attended his funeral and was deeply touched by the unsurprising news that Bob in his personal life was as brilliant as he was in business. So long Bob – we and I myself shall certainly miss you!
