A Rare trilogy from Piper-Heidsieck

Piper-Heidsieck has released a trio of vintage Champagnes for sale in the UK. Called Rare, the wines are all made in years noted for their difficult climatic conditions and will be sold as a set comprising the 1979, 1988 and 1999 vintages.

A Rare vintage has been created only seven times in the past three decades: 1976, 1979, 1985, 1988, 1990, 1998 and 1999 – years in which growers had to intervene significantly in order to produce a harvest.
