Phoebe French
In her role as web and social media editor, Phoebe helps to source and write online news stories for the drinks business. She also compiles and sends out the daily newsletter, as well as manages all of the social media channels.
Phoebe has an MA in Modern History from the University of St Andrews. While at university, she was president of the student-run Fine Food and Dining Society before becoming vice-captain of the University of St Andrews Wine Tasting Team.
She has competed in the Pol Roger varsity wine tasting competition against Edinburgh University, as well as the Sciences Po International Tasting, sponsored by Champagne Bollinger, and the Left Bank Bordeaux Cup.
Phoebe’s experience includes roles at IG Wines, Luvians, Ellis Wines, The Wine Pantry and The English Wine and Spirits Company. She passed her WSET Level 3 in wine with distinction and will start her WSET Level 4 Diploma in 2018.
At university, Phoebe wrote her dissertation on the 18th century London Gin Craze, examining and challenging William Hogarth’s iconic sister prints, Gin Lane and Beer Street (1751).
Aside from her interest in history and art, Phoebe is a keen cook and enjoys swimming, long walks and playing golf.
