Colin Hay
Colin Hay is db’s Bordeaux correspondent and a Professor of Political Science at Sciences Po in Paris, where he works on the political economy of Europe, la place de Bordeaux and wine markets more generally.
His undergraduate degree was in Social and Political Science from the University of Cambridge and he has a PhD from Lancaster University.
He started writing for the international press having written a series of academic articles on the influence of wine critics on château release prices and their subsequent performance in the secondary market.
But his love affair with fine wine long predates that. He is a particular admirer of the wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhône Valley, Piedmont and Tuscany.
