Camden Town Brewery launches ‘more refreshing’ stout
The London-based brewery has announced the launch of Camden Stout, having tweaked the recipe of its previous dark beer to “introduce a new, more refreshing, version to liven up the stout category”, the brewery told db.
Camden Stout has been made available exclusively in the on-trade, adding to Camden Town Brewery’s on-premise portfolio alongside Camden Hells and Camden Pale Ale.
The North London brewery has developed the new stout off the back of previously poured dark beer Ink, but has chosen to tweak the recipe over the last few years to create a fresher dark beer.
Fred Nesbitt, head of marketing at Camden Town Brewery, told db that the new stout recipe has been in development for “a year or so”.
“We previously had a stout, Ink, as part of our core range and we wanted to introduce a new, more refreshing, version to liven up the stout category,” he said.
Nesbitt claimed that stout is becoming an increasingly popular serve among beer drinkers. “We want to help the category grow by bringing in a fresh and exciting new proposition,” he added.
The brand said in a press release that it chose to dial back the intensity of the hops and roast from Ink to create a more “balanced and sessionable beer” with Camden Stout.
Nesbitt said: “We always want our beers to recruit new consumers so we can help to grow the category, and our Camden fan base. We’re incredibly proud of our on-trade headliners Hells and Pale Ale, and now we have Camden Stout to appeal to beer drinkers who may prefer a darker styles of beer.”
