Is sparkling wine entering a new era?

The growing category has never offered so much diversity, so enter the Global Sparkling Masters 2024 before 22 April to stand out among the competition.

Whether Napoléon Bonaparte, Coco Chanel, Oscar Wilde, Winston Churchill or other famous drinker of fizz, these celebrities saw it as worthy of everyday consumption.

But traditionally sparkling wine has been considered a luxury product designed to be consumed on special occasions. However, times are changing, and consumers are gradually drinking fizz as a little treat without necessarily celebrating anything — just like all those celebrities throughout history.

Giorgio Del Rosso, head of statistics at the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), confirmed the “de-seasonalisation” of sparkling wine: OIV’s recent research revealed that the growing consumption of bubbles is responsible for two thirds of the increase in white wine production.

Fizz seems to be at the dawn of its glory days – which is not surprising when you look at everything the sparkling category has to offer, beyond the incredible success of Champagne and Prosecco: Cava, Crémant, Trentodoc, Cap Classique, sparkling Shiraz… and the list could go on and on.

It is therefore only natural that the Global Wine Masters dedicate a competition open to any style of sparkling, from any region: the Global Sparkling Masters 2024.

The contest will identify the very best expressions of fizz across the world, from Champagne to Pet Nat. Entries are open for another six weeks and results will be published in the June issue of the drinks business magazine and online.

We are looking for bubbly personalities! Enter the competition here before 22 April.

Entries cost £159 ex VAT
