KFC launches first ever spirit with new rum

Fast food corporation KFC has teamed up with UK-based rum brand Dead Man’s Fingers to create the chicken chain’s first ever spirit – the 11 Herbed and Spiced Rum.

KFC launches first ever rum

KFC has teamed up with Dead Man’s Fingers, a rum brand based in Cornwall, England, to create a limited-edition 11 Herbed and Spiced Rum.

The new serve, which is the fast food chain’s first ever venture into spirits, blends notes of the rum brand’s Cornish flavours and KFC’s secret herb and spice blend.

The KFC Colonel’s recipe remains a secret, but the company has revealed it has balanced the herbs and spices including black and white pepper together with its golden breading, and infused it with notes of Dead Man’s Fingers spiced rum, meaning the new tipple also has whispers of creamy caramel, vanilla, treacle toffee and nutmeg.

To celebrate National Rum Day, the limited-edition rum will be available to pre-order from The Drop Store and via Amazon from today.

To mark the launch, on 1 and 2 September, fans have the chance to try the limited-edition rum at a pop-up Chicken and Rum Shack in Margate, offering free chicken to anyone who attends. The seaside pop-up will feature Dead Man’s Fingers-approved cocktails, including Zinger Punch, The Colonel’s Colada and Fingers Lickin’ Good, all made with Dead Man’s Fingers rum.

KFC may not have ventured into the spirits world before, but last year the fast food chain opened a London pub to celebrate the men’s World Cup.

The pop-up pub – located on Fulham Palace Road, Hammesmith – remained open for just one week, from 25 November to 1 December.
