Bijou reveals why its wines are perfect for gastronomy

Bijou Wines has revealed that its portfolio of wines are ideal for “gastronomic events”, including summer barbecues.

Speaking to the drinks business, Bijou explained how its style of winemaking is ideal for food pairing, from the social refreshing moments right through to luxurious and indulgent fine dining.

Bijou Wines commercial manager Edward Vellacott told db: “We make bright and aromatic wines one can enjoy throughout the year, including during summer” and explained how Bijou makes “rosés ranging from crisp wines packed with ripe red fruits perfectly suited to French apéritifs and gatherings” right through to “more serious wines in Eminence de Bijou and En Mémoire de Sophie Valrose”.

According to Vellacott, rosés are “a delightful gastronomic star, not limited to summer salads or bold dressings” whereas “Eminence truly shines when paired with spiced dishes and effortlessly enhances the flavours of grilled meats and vegetables on the barbecue”.

As a brand, Bijou has always outlined how gastronomy continues to be important to assist in showcasing the wines to an audience looking for quality and craftmanship. Vellacott highlighted how Bijou Wines are “stocked in Michelin Star restaurants and the pub down the road alike” and it is this kind of versatility that retains its relevance for foodies.

Bijou Wine first began in Cabrières in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France, and has since expanded production into Provence and elsewhere, but its focus is to make elegant wines which reflect the terroir in which the grapes are grown have assisted in its “affordable luxury” positioning that has become an integral part of its business model.

Available in more than 40 countries, Bijou Wines are also present in both the on-trade and the off-trade, with the majority of its wines produced from either HEV or organic vineyards – credentials discerning drinkers and foodies are increasingly interested in.
