Indonesian wine delivery firm GoDrinks outlines future plans

Wine-delivery firm GoDrinks has outlined its plans for the future, including international growth and a focus on its sustainability agenda.

The firm, which was founded by Asian wine industry veteran David Pedrol in 2020, was created after he moved with his family to Bali during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pedrol began with five local wineries, which produced millions of bottles using local and imported grapes, before looking into key importers and distributors across the country.

GoDrinks then developed the concept of sourcing directly from vineyards, avoiding intermediaries, and ensuring a fair price for the consumer. Focusing on logistics and traceability, especially considering the challenges across the islands of Indonesia, the firm ensured a strong cold chain management of the wine, and currently has six warehouses at different locations to ensure fast and smart fulfillment to the main regions it serves.

The company, which took inspiration from the other ‘Go’ related players in the logistics and e-commerce marketplace, now delivers to thousands of customers across the country, exceeding US$15m in sales in 2022 across its B2B business.

It highlighted that success was based on its mixed campaigns online and offline, re-targted on social media, with original video content with first-hand consumer endorsements, as well as e-tastings and casual learning content. GoDrinks has “invested heavily” in technology also, it said, in order to streamline its operations and customer experience.

The firm offers a range of produces, including natural and vegan wines, as well as a custom range produced from both new world and old world grapes. Additionally, it has a sustainability focus with eco-friendly packaging through boxed wine, which is one of its best-selling products.

Future plans include an expansion into new regions, it said, as well as the development of new products, following the establishment of approximately 8,000 customers in Indonesia.
