Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker’s wine enjoys rapid growth

New Zealand’s Invivo saw sales of its award-winning collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker – Invivo X, SJP – have grown ‘significantly’ throughout 2022 and in the first months of 2023.

The winemaker said that its Invivo X, SJP Sauvignon Blanc is up 43% in value in the USA and 34% in volume, which is faster than the general NZ Sauvignon Blanc category than has grown by 5% overall and declined in volume by 1%.

Invivo has seen four years of continuous growth in the US, increasing by 25% in 2022 compared to 2021. Invivo X, SJP has secured new listings across the USA for 2023 including a launch across 1,541 Kroger stores.

The wine also scooped the award for Best Launch at the 2020 Drinks Business Awards with the judges describing the brand’s launch as “slick, super professional and perfectly pitched at its target audience”.

The collaboration between SJP and Invivo also saw sales increase by 159% to South Korea, 59% to Greece, 56% to Ontario and 10% to Ireland. Invivo X, SJP is now available in more than 22 countries, launching across Europe in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Central and South America in 2022.

Invivo X, SJP will have its fifth vintage in 2023 with the actress tasting and blending the next vintage of the Marlborough wine with Invivo co-founders Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron each year.

Produced in Invivo’s historic, 120 year-old winery based in Te Kauwhata in New Zealand, Invivo X, SJP Sauvignon Blanc was awarded 93 points by Wine Spectator and 90 points by James Suckling for vintage 2022. Wine Spectator has awarded the wine three 90+points for its first three vintages.

Invivo has expanded its vineyards with a further 70 hectares secured in 2022 with further developments on the horizon. The Kiwi winemakers now have capacity to make 2.5 million litres of wine at its historic 120-year old winery in Te Kauwhata, New Zealand, increasing from 200,000 litres of capacity in 2016.
