db recommends: Millésimes Alsace Digitasting

From 27 February to 1 March next year, Vins d’Alsace will return for the second edition of its Millésimes Alsace Digitasting.

2021’s event, the first “phygital” wine trade show organised by an appellation, had almost 4,000 ‘visitors’ from a total of 55 countries, with 10,000 tasting boxes distributed . 97% of those surveyed said that they would participate again.

Now, set for the end of February 2023, the next edition of the show will be bringing more of Alsace’s best wines and winemakers to attendees across the globe, using unique technology developed by Digitasting. 3cl samples are bottled in Alsace in mini flute shaped-glass bottles and closed with an airtight capsule.

Features of the 2023 show include:

  • A live masterclass, led by Roman Iltis (Meilleur Sommelier de France 2012), Yves Beck (author and critic), Jenni Wagoner (Zuma restaurants’ group wine director) and Thierry Fritsch (oenologist), on consumer trends across two compatible time zones. (27 February, 10am or 5pm French time)
  • New producers added to the line-up.
  • Digitasting ‘Discovery Boxes’, meaning each guest will be sent samples from two producers additional to those they have selected.

This edition also has a simplified booking procedure, time zone management, an interactive map of Alsace to locate producers, and the ability to place orders and book meetings right away.
