English taxi wine tasting tours hit Bordeaux

A new concept, named Wine Cab, now allows wine fans to take a new kind of tasting route to the vineyards of Bordeaux by English taxi.

The concept, created by Antoine Beucher who worked for 30 years as the manager of an event agency, began after he suffering what he described as the “soulless” experience of visiting the region’s current tours with boredom rather than fun. According to Beucher, all circuits to vineyards were alike and ferried wine lovers around in sedans to signposted areas without much originality.

Wine Cab embodies a philosophy like the English taxi: the friendly driver offers tailor-made tours or in classic format, with beautiful addresses usually known to only “happy few” in the region.

According to Beucher, the alternative he offers of climbing aboard a mythical London ‘cab’ means travelling with a vintage look and a strong personality. “Fitted out as a real tasting room, the famous Fairway FX4 seduces with its inimitable style and elegant line,” he explained.

Wine fans can enjoy tastings in the car and make the whole journey unforgettable – plus each participant leaves with a souvenir road book with Polaroid pictures.

Wine Cab will be offering an initiatory four hour circuit to discover organic wines. The circuit includes pick-up and drop-off at a hotel in Bordeaux, two visits with tastings in two organic certified châteaux, a countryside tasting in the vineyards (or in the cab in the event of rain) and transport with an English-speaking driver.

The experience retails at €132/person with the option to provide an accompanying expert oenologist for €280.
