Yes folks, we can’t deny it any longer: Mariah Carey’s dulcet tones are permeating supermarket aisles and a passive-aggressive reply-all email thread about the environmental implications of ‘wear a Christmas jumper to work day’ is surely only days away from surfacing.
By which I mean to say, Christmas is coming.
This time of year heralds in with it many things that can basically be boiled down into three categories; improbably calorific foods, hot alcoholic beverages, and a bank account emptied with blithe abandon.
Incidentally, three things you will almost certainly encounter at a Christmas market.
But wait, because this year you could actually get paid to indulge your festive mores, rather than waking up on some fateful Tuesday in mid-December with a 10/10 Bailey’s hangover and a notification advising you that you’ve hit your overdraft limit without even buying anyone’s presents.
Yes, this could be you this Christmas.
That’s because Premier Inn is looking for five Christmas Market Testers to sample the festive fare in places like London, Dublin and Frankfurt.
If you’re successful, you’ll be given a stay in one of the cities, plus spending money to ensure you get the most out of your visit.
You’ll then report back with photos and a write up of your experience, which will be used in a guide to the best Christmas markets.
To apply, you have until 28 November to describe your last visit to a Christmas market and what you enjoyed most about the trip in no more than 250 words.
Simon Ewins, Managing Director at Premier Inn, commented of the opportunity: “Christmas markets have gone from strength to strength in recent years and so we know our official Christmas Market Tester role will be a dream job for many, with the opportunity to explore markets in the UK, Dublin and Germany all on offer”.
