Edinburgh Gin signs new sponsorship deal with Musselburgh Racecourse

Following its cogent backing of The Edinburgh Cup Raceday last year, Edinburgh Gin has signed a £20,000 headline sponsorship deal with Musselburgh Racecourse.

The new contract will involve Edinburgh Gin providing a range of gins and gin cocktails using their series of gin liqueurs (raspberry, elderflower and rhubarb & ginger) on Scotland’s “biggest race day of the year.”

Last year, Edinburgh Gin served over 6,000 drinks with its classic Edinburgh Gin and Seaside Gin proving the most popular. The Classic Edinburgh Gin is surprisingly creamy, distilled with Scottish juniper, pine, heather and milk thistle and ‘8 classic botanicals’ whilst the Seaside Gin, inspired by Edinburgh’s east coast setting, combines botanicals foraged on the shoreline, including scurvy grass, ground ivy and bladderwrack, providing a distinctly salty tang.

This year’s race, expected to attract up to 7,000 race-goers, will be held on Saturday, 3 June 2017 and has a total prize fund of £180,000.

Commenting on the partnership, Sarah Montgomery Senior Operations and Commercial Manager at Musselburgh Racecourse said: “We’re delighted to have Edinburgh’s iconic drinks brand partner up with the capital’s famed and biggest race day of the year.

“Edinburgh Gin has been immensely popular with our Edinburgh Cup race-goers who have an appetite for the finer things and we’re excited to see what the 2017 raceday brings.”

Neil Boyd, Commercial Director for Ian Macleod Distillers who own Edinburgh Gin, said: “Following on from the success of last year’s Edinburgh Cup at Musselburgh Racecourse we are excited to sponsor one of Scotland’s leading days in the racing calendar again this year.

“The sponsorship is a natural fit for Edinburgh Gin and Musselburgh Racecourse, combining two iconic Edinburgh brands and providing spectators with a wide choice of popular gin drinks while people enjoy a great day out at the races.”
