Scottish drinkers are being given the chance to perform their democratic duty in a unique way with the release of The Referendum Beer.

Craft brewery Brewmeister has launched the range of Yes and No beers that will be used to give an insight into how the company’s customers may vote in the upcoming independence referendum.

The ‘ballot-beers’ will be available until Sunday (September 14), when the sales will be counted to determine if drinkers are leaning toward leaving the United Kingdom or not.

Scotland will go to the polls four days later on Thursday 18 September.

Lewis Shand, sales and marketing director at Brewmeister, said: “The decision on whether or not Scotland should be independent will be the biggest question our generation will be asked to answer and we feel that, since every other cross-section of Scottish society has been polled, craft beer fans should have a chance to have their say.

“However, unlike some of the discussions we hear regarding the pros and cons of going it alone, our beer referendum is a light-hearted way for customers to have their say on the subject as well as enjoying a great beer at the same time.”

Both bottles are filled with the same kind of beer and are available to buy from brewmeister.co.uk.
