Berry Bros unveils No.3 gin

Berry Bros & Rudd Spirits has announced the release of its No.3 London Dry Gin.

The St James’s merchant has set its sights on No.3 being the gin of choice for dry Martinis in establishments such as Dukes Hotel and The Coburg Bar at The Connaught Hotel.

Dr David Clutton, one of the world’s leading authorities on gin, and a team of specialists spent a year creating a recipe that was eventually distilled at one of Holland’s oldest distillers.

Geraldine Coates, author of The Mixellany Guide to Gin, said: “I’m delighted to see a new gin of such quality being launched. No.3 is a very welcome addition to the gin scene and I was very honoured to be involved in its development as a member of a panel of drinks experts who gave our time freely to taste and comment on No.3 in its early stages.

“Brilliantly, and indeed unusually, Berry Bros & Rudd actually listened to what we said and incorporated our suggestions.”

Three fruits and three spices: Italian juniper, Spanish sweet orange peel, angelica root, Moroccan coriander seed, grapefruit peel and cardamom pods were all combined to flavour the gin, which aims to remain true to the spirit of London dry gin and Berry Bros’ own traditions.

Simon Berry, chairman of Berry Bros & Rudd, said: “No.3 is unmistakably traditional London Dry Gin. By traditional we mean gin that tastes as gin should, with juniper at its heart.

“We are determined that No.3 will be the last word in gin for a Dry Martini.”

No.3 London Dry Gin will be available from April at Berry Bros and Rudd and through InSpirit in the UK at £32.95 for a 70cl bottle and in the USA through Skyy at $39.99 for a 75cl bottle.
