Charity bike ride raises over £5k

A team of 12 people completed this year’s Mentzendorff Charity Cycle ride from Calais to Champagne in record time. Arriving at Bollinger in Aÿ at 11.30am on Wednesday 6 June, the group took just two and a half days to cover 400km.

Now in its third year, this gruelling test of physical and mental strength will raise, it is believed, as much as £5,000 for the Wines & Spirits Trade's Benevolent Society. The team of 12 cyclists included:

  • Alan Montague-Dennis, Mentzendorff
  • Andrew Hawes, Mentzendorff
  • Chris Connolly, Connolly’s Wines
  • Jonathan Hall, EMC
  • Lucie Maquart, Mentzendorff
  • Patrick Schmitt, the drinks business
  • Paul Matthew, The Hide Bar
  • Phillip Amps, Amps Fine Wines
  • Richard Hamblin, D&D Restaurants
  • Sean Welsh, Mentzendorff
  • Tim Veale, Mentzendorff
  • Will Oatley, Mentzendorff

Cheques for the Benevolent should be made payable to WSTB Trading Co and sent to Lucy Roberts at Mentzendorff, Prince Consort House, 27-29 Albert Embankment, London, SE1 7TJ
