Prominent Chilean wine producer, Viña Montes is planning to launch new vintages specifically aimed at the Asia market at this year’s Vinexpo.

The Sparkling Angel brut will shine at the Montes’ stand during this year’s Vinexpo

After launching its first sparkling wine, Sparkling Angel in the UK last year, Montes will present its method traditionelle brut label during Vinexpo and then release it in South Korea, immediately following the show.

Sparkling Angel is made with a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay and grown in Chile’s Pacific coastal region of Zapallar.

Montes also plans to showcase the latest 2009 vintage of of its ‘super icon’ wine, Taita, a predominately Cabernet Sauvignon blend which is specifically aimed at Asian consumers as well as the 2016 vintage of its Sauvignon Blanc Angel Selection which is geared towards the Japanese market.

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are harvested 21 days earlier than usual which allows it to be the first Chilean Sauvignon Blanc to enter the market.

From Montes’ winery in Argentina there will be its 2014 Kaiken Obertura, a premium Cabernet Franc from Mendoza.

“Our presence in Vinexpo Asia and all the new wines we will show during the fair is a proof of the importance of the Asian market for Montes since its foundation more than 28 years ago,” said Eduardo Wexman, Montes’ marketing manager.

“Montes was one of the pioneers in opening the Asian market for Chilean wines and particularly for premium wines. And we believe the same for Kaiken. Asia is a focus market and we are putting all our efforts to promote not only our wines but Argentina as well.”
