Beer brand wishes London a Hoppy Christmas

Thirsty Londoners have flocked to a 27ft beer-baubled Christmas tree for free beer as part of a brand marketing stunt.

The tree, installed at Observation Point on the bank of the river Thames at Southwark, was part of a Christmas marketing stunt from Danish beer brand Carlsberg.

The brand decorated the giant tree with beer glass baubles, candle-lit beer bottles, digital festoon lighting and beer hops, according to Brand Republic.

The first 100 visitors to the tree were given one of the hand-blown glass beer baubles, or ‘beerbles’, from which to drink free Carlsberg lager.

The stunt was part of a year-long Carlsberg marketing campaign, reported on in the drinks business in April this year.

The tree was dispensing free beer from midday to 7pm on December 4, ensuring a small number of Londoners would enjoy a hoppy Christmas.
