C&B welcomes back St-Emilion ‘jewel’

UK fine wine merchant Corney & Barrow has announced it once again has the distribution rights to Saint Emilion classed growth, Clos Saint-Martin.

The announcement marks the renewal of a distribution deal that has been dormant since 1998 and Will Hargrove, fine wine director at the merchant, told the drinks business he was “delighted” to have the chance to sell the wines again and that the 2014 was a “wonderful vintage” to rekindle the partnership with.

Surrounded by Beauséjour Bécot and Clos Fourtet on the limestone plateau of Saint Emilion, Clos Saint-Martin is a mere 1.3ha in size and has an annual production of less than 500 cases.

As Corney & Barrow explained in its release: “Its “painfully” small size and focus on exceptional terroir is perhaps more reminiscent of Burgundy than Bordeaux, while its luxurious lush mid-palate followed by an understated long mineral finish is quintessential St. Emilion.”
