FMV embarks on Italian project

UK agency business Fields Morris & Verdin has announced the arrival of former Berry Bros. & Rudd buyer David Berry Green to head a new Italian wine venture.

Called DBGitalia, the initiative will see Berry Green draw on the network he has built up during six years living in the Langhe to run a new ex-cellars business arm of FMV. This will offer “classic” wines from Italy and especially Piedmont to merchants and retailers both in the UK and internationally.

The initial Barolo-dominated list comprises 32 wineries, including Moscato d’Asti producer Cerutti, Barolo and Barbaresco producer Roagna, Tuscany’s Scopetone and Bonvita from Sicily.

Commenting on the move to FMV, which is owned by BBR but operates as a separately run agency division, Berry Green said: “I’m thrilled by this opportunity to work with Fields Morris & Verdin in offering a range of authentic, classic fine wines from my friends and producers in Italy.

“This venture coincides with a greater appreciation worldwide of the high quality, good value and inimitable expression of indigenous wines now emerging from this ancient viticultural utopia.”

Although run largely from Berry Green’s office in the Langhe, DBGitalia will be administered by FMV from its headquarters in south-west London. A selection of its wines will be on show as part of the FMV Biennial Portfolio Tasting later this month.
