Ginger liqueur signs UK distribution deal

The world’s first premium French ginger liqueur is set to make a move on the UK after signing a distribution deal with Marblehead.

Domaine de Canton is handmade in small batches in Jarnac in the heart of Cognac, France and is known for its distinctive bottle and unique blend.

Each batch is made using fresh, baby ginger from Vietnam, blended with VSOP and Grande Champagne XO Cognac and packaged in a frosted, bamboo-shaped bottle.

It is based on a recipe originally inspired by French colonial Indochina which had a tradition of using sweet and fresh elixirs, fortified by fine eaux de vie and Cognac.

The deal will see the drink distributed in the UK’s on and off-trade markets.

Emma Wykes, Managing Director of Marblehead, says: “We are really excited to be working with this internationally successful brand and this demonstrates Marblehead’s place in the industry as an independent, brand-building developer.”

“We have a strong portfolio of brands with integrity and Domaine de Canton will fit very well into our range of spirits, which includes Davna Bizon, Czeri and Hani Vodka, Skipper Rum, AquaRiva Tequila, Berkeley Square London Dry Gin, Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin and Toussaint Coffee Liqueur. Domaine de Canton is a high quality liqueur which is much admired in the on-trade and we are delighted that Maurice Cooper et Cie has chosen Marblehead as custodians of their premium brand.”
