D&D agrees Leeds restaurant deal

D&D London has agreed a deal to open two restaurants within the new Trinity Leeds shopping development, currently under development in the northern English city centre.

Although not due to open until spring 2013, it is anticipated that the project will feature a modern French restaurant together with a bar & grill serving predominantly British food.

The restaurants will occupy around 12,000 square feet on the two upper floors of a building adjacent to the new complex. The design will include outdoor terraces with views across to the grade I-listed Holy Trinity Church.

Des Gunewardena, chairman and CEO of D&D London, sai: “This is an important venture for us. We have always thought that Leeds would feature prominently as part of our plans to expand in the UK outside London. It is a city where people enjoy eating out and Leeds has a significant and sophisticated business scene.”

The Trinity Leeds retail development is being managed by Land Securities, the UK’s largest commercial property company.

The firm’s retail leasing director, John Grimes, said: “For us to provide quality restaurants in Trinity Leeds as destinations for fine diners, business customers, families and friends is very exciting and we look forward to creating ‘a wow factor’ in the heart of the city.”

With the new shopping centre due to host a collection of major national and international brands and boutiques, Grimes emphasised the city’s emergence as a commercially attractive place to do business.

He explained: “Leeds is the second most important financial and legal services hub outside London with a catchment to support the aspirational and niche destination which we will deliver.”
