Customers tell of Wine Rack relief

The Wine Rack one-day experience of tastings and cut-price offers in stores has been hailed as a major success.

With customers feeding back comments such as, "Thank goodness you are still open," punters were rewarded with an in-store offer of 40%-off a selection of wines last weekend.

Rod Rodrigues, area manager of the new Wine Rack company, said: "The tastings we held on Saturday were a fantastic success and we had great response from our local customers. Many managers had people coming in and saying ‘thank goodness you are still open’ and in one branch alone we sold over 28 cases at the tasting."

At its inaugural meeting, the newly-formed Wine Rack management team chose the selection of eight wines to be discounted from the portfolio of agent and supplier Hatch Mansfield.

Ranging from Champagne Taittinger to Vidal Sauvignon Blanc, the 40%-off deal took place in all 14 Wine Rack stores, and was only available to customers on Saturday 12 December.

The wines on the 40% offer included:
Champagne Taittinger NV Brut from £39.99 down to £23.99
Vidal East Coast Sauvignon Blanc 2008 from £8.49 down to £5.09
Louis Jadot Mâcon Blanc 2008 from £10.99 down to £6.59
Villa Maria Private Bin Gewurztraminer 2008 from £9.99 down to £5.99
