A special introduction to the excellent new 2017 Vintage

The Drinks Business and Almaviva warmly welcome you to a special, personal introduction to the new 2017 vintage, with Chief Winemaker Michel Friou and Drinks Business Editor-in-Chief Patrick Schmitt MW.

This is the 22nd vintage release from Almaviva, which is now clearly established as one of the world’s greatest international fine wines.

Alongside the latest vintage, Michel will offer a unique opportunity to take a tutored vertical tasting through several interesting back vintages including 2013, 2011, 2008, 1999.

Michel will explain his philosophy towards creating a timeless wine in the exceptional terroir of the Puente Alto, and our guests will have the opportunity to question him directly on his famously meticulous approach towards viticulture and vinification.

Almaviva was born out of a joint venture between Baron Phillippe de Rothschild (of Chateau Mouton Rothschild) and Concha y Toro, and a mutual aim of creating an international fine wine that could stand alongside the very best Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé, but with the additional ingredient of Carmenere in the blend alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
