WSET to hold first virtual open house event

On 19 and 20 October, the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) will hold its first ‘virtual open house’ event, showcasing the courses it offers on wine, spirits and sake.

Though the organisation has been going since 1969 and has award more than one million WSET qualifications since then, the two-day event this autumn marks a new milestone for it as it offers a virtual guide through its qualifications to prospective students around the world.

Day one, 19 October, will focus on the wine qualifications, whereas day two, 20 October, will cover spirits and sake. The live streamed sessions will cover the ins and outs of what taking a WSET qualification can provide students, from Level 1 all the way up to the Diploma. WSET students will also share their personal experiences of the course.

Carolyn d’Aguilar, WSET marketing director, explained: “Just like a college or university open day, this event will allow potential students to sample our wine, spirits and sake qualifications before they commit to signing up with one of our course providers.”

“They can explore which qualification and study option is right for them and how WSET education can benefit them – whether for their career or for personal enjoyment,” she continued.

Businesses looking to see how offering WSET training can work for their team are also welcome. Some of the live sessions will be run in French and Spanish, and it will be accessible from every time zone. All sessions will be available to watch on-demand on WSET’s events platform for 30 days after the event ends.
