Aldi launches Patrón XO cafe-inspired coffee liqueur for £15.99

Discount supermarket chain Aldi has seemingly capitalised on the much-mourned discontinuation of Patrón XO cafe with the launch of its own Tequila-based coffee liqueur priced at just £15.99.

Patrón announced last year that its much loved XO cafe would be discontinued, much to the dismay of the coffee liqueur’s legions of fans.

Indeed, as the news broke, fans took to the internet to design an online petition urging the Tequila giant to re-think its plans to permanently shelve XO cafe.

Perhaps capitalising on the potential gap in the mark left behind after XO cafe’s demise, discount supermarket Aldi has launched its own Tequila-based coffee liqueur, El Toro Coffee Liqueur.

Keenly priced at £15.99, it seems the expression will undercut major market rivals, perhaps enticing customers amid the burgeoning cost of living crisis.

Bottle images appear to show that El Toro Coffee Liqueur has 35% ABV and comes in a 70cl black bottle adorned with an image of an agave field and the messaging “made in Mexico”.

The coffee liqueur is set to hit store shelves on 21 August, and if the brand’s major product launches (particularly those that provide budget alternatives to premium expressions) in the past are anything to go by, these will fly off the shelves.

Aldi is also hiring for an official beer taster to sample its new line of craft beers. To find out more about that particular dream job, click here.
