Sierra Nevada Brewing Co is ‘bold’ on climate action and doubles donation
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. has kicked off a donation-doubling drive to raise extra money for Protect Our Winters (POW) conserving outdoor play.
The donation drive, which will be live until 22 February 2022, will see Sierra Nevada match donations up to US$25,000 total when donations are made by consumers to ‘POW’s non-partisan mission’.
The move comes after Sierra Nevada and POW joined forces to double people’s climate action impact by helping fund advocacy, outreach and advancement of non-partisan climate action policies in order to protect outdoor playgrounds.
Mandi McKay, Sierra Nevada director of sustainability and social responsibility explained to db: “Climate change is no longer a future event. It’s happening now and will continue to impact businesses, our economy, and our communities. We need collective action at all levels and partners like Protect Our Winters drive that effort by connecting education, advocacy, and recreation. The time is now and we need to be bold in the face of this crisis to protect our environment, preserve our powder days and build a more resilient future.”
The donation drive will conclude with a special day of virtual events on Powder Day om 22 February. Virtual events include free film screenings from athlete ambassadors of both Sierra Nevada and POW, as well as live Q&A sessions with the athletes. To learn more about Powder Day virtual events and participate in the donation drive, people are asked to visit the POW website
The donation drive will align with the release of Sierra Nevada’s new limited-time beer, Powder Day IPA, which will be available throughout March, while supplies last.
The 7.7%-ABV beer has notes of citrus, tropical fruit, and melon and has been so named to reflect the copious amount of lupulin powder – a substance found within hop cones that imparts intense hop flavours and aromas in beer – that has been used in the brewing process and is set to wake people up to the situation.
