Salt Bae is hiring a cocktail bartender – here’s how long they’d need to work to afford his steak

Much has been made in the press of late regarding the sky high prices at Salt Bae’s London outpost, Nusr-Et. The celebrity chef is now hiring a cocktail bartender, but how many hours would they need to work to afford one of his famous golden steaks?

Yes, Nusr-Et – based in Kensington – has caused quite a stir since it opened on 23 September this year, mostly for the many viral stories appearing online regarding the seemingly astronomical prices being charged there.

Now, whatever your feelings on the pricing structure of Salt Bae’s restaurants (or indeed the wisdom of paying North of £1,000 for a gold encrusted steak), I think we can all agree that charging £11 for a Red Bull is a stretch too far.

However, if you successfully apply for the cocktail bartender position being advertised at Nusr-Et in London, those prices will be part and parcel of your daily shift.

Nusret Gökçe, better known as Salt Bae, is on the hunt for a passionate cocktail bartender to join the team at his London outpost. According to a job advert quoted by MyLondon, the successful candidate will be paid £15 per hour.

“We are looking for energetic bartenders to join the team at the highly anticipated new opening of the first Nusr-et Steakhouse in London!” A portion of the job listing reads.

“We are looking for a passionate bartender who thrives in a busy environment!”

Now, in case you’re wondering, at a wage of £15 per hour, one would need to work for some 96 hours to afford one of Salt Bae’s famous golden steaks, which go for £1,450 a pop.

Back in October, an Evening Standard article suggested that even the viral sensation that is the Salt Bae empire is not immune to staff labour shortages being reported across the industry.

Writing for the Evening Standard, Emily Prescott revealed that recruitment days hosted by the restaurant appeared to be all-but empty.
