Cotswolds Distillery introduces two new single malt whiskies
The Cotswolds Distillery has launched two new single malt whiskies into its portfolio introducing ex-Bourbon casks into its repertoire.
The Cotswolds Bourbon Cask Single Malt Whisky and Cotswolds Reserve Single Malt Whisky join the distillers line-up to appeal to cask whisky drinkers looking for new expressions.
Cotswolds Bourbon Cask Single Malt Whisky has been created from select first-fill ex-Bourbon casks in which the distillery’s new make single malt has been matured and is targeting cask whisky drinkers.
The Cotswolds Bourbon Cask expression begins with their new make spirit and uses a 90-hour fermentation before it is diluted to 63.5%-ABV and set down in American oak ex-Bourbon casks from Kentucky for full term maturation.
Cotswolds Distillery founder, Dan Szor, said: “We always planned to launch a Bourbon Cask Single Malt ever since 2014 when we founded the distillery. Our house style is to produce spirits with big flavours and by using first-fill ex-Bourbon casks, which arrive at the distillery with their staves soaked in Bourbon whisky, we ensure a full and rich flavour for this wonderful cask strength expression.”
Szor added: “Our new Reserve Single Malt joins our range of single malt whiskies. We’re excited to launch this smooth, elegant and approachable whisky expression which has been aged in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks and STR ex-red wine casks.”
Cotswolds Bourbon Cask Single Malt Whisky, which is 59.1%-ABV, will retail at £64.95 per bottle whereas Cotswolds Reserve Single Malt Whisky, which is 50%-ABV, will retail at £49.95.
Both expressions will be available online from the Cotswolds Distillery shops. The Cotswolds Bourbon Cask Single Malt Whisky will be sold from this week, while the Cotswolds Reserve Single Malt Whisky will not be available for purchase until 1 November.
