Phoebe Waller-Bridge is launching a Fleabag gin
Fans of the hit BBC show can get their hands on a bottle of Fleabag Gin later this month. And it even comes with a message from the ‘hot priest’.
Anyone who has seen the TV show Fleabag will know about the character’s fondness for a quick can of G&T. Sales of Marks and Spencer’s own-brand G&T in a can soared by 24% in the week following an episode of the comedy-drama where Fleabag (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) bonded with the ‘hot priest’ (Andrew Scott) over several cans of the supermarket’s gin and tonic.
Now Waller-Bridge has teamed up with Edinburgh Gin to launch a special limited edition Fleabag Gin for charity.
At £48 a pop, it’s at the loftier end of the price scale, but a generous 100% of the profits will go towards helping struggling artists make it to the Edinburgh Fringe next year, with the hope of breathing new life into the festival.
The gin officially launches on 20 July and Waller-Bridge hopes it will raise more than £150,000 for the creative cause.
“Gin and theatre are my two great loves,” said Waller-Bridge, who launched Fleabag as a one-woman show on the Fringe in 2013.
“We wanted this bottle to capture a glimpse of Edinburgh in all her mystery and wonder, through the eyes of Fleabag who found her first home there,” she continued. “I hope every purchase inspires outrageous and creative conversations.”
She continued: “It’s important to add that Andrew Scott hand wrote a message on the bottle… if that isn’t incentive enough to hunt one down and hold it against your cheek, I don’t know what is.”
The screen-printed bottle features dialogue from the final episode of the show, with “I Love You” handwritten by Waller-Bridge and “It’ll Pass” scrawled by the ‘hot priest’.
There’ll be a limited run of bottles, but you can register for pre-sale access here to boost your chances of nabbing one when they drop on 20 July.
