Cameron Diaz adds a sparkler to her Avaline range

Just in time for Christmas, Hollywood star Cameron Diaz has added a fizz to her Avaline range made by renegade Spanish sparkling producer Raventós i Blanc.

Called Avaline Sparkling, the 12% ABV “dry, refreshing” fizz is made from a trio of grapes traditionally used in the production of Cava – Xarel·lo, Macabeo and Parellada from Penedès

Produced by the family-run Raventós i Blanc, which famously left the Cava appellation to strike out on its own, the sparkler is made in the traditional method and spends 18 months on its lees.

Avaline chose to partner with Raventós i Blanc due to its focus on sustainability – its vineyards are certified biodynamic by Demeter.

Keen to lessen its impact on the environment, the estate uses horses instead of tractors to plough its vineyards and sheep in place of lawnmowers.

Marketed as a “clean” wine brand, Avaline’s white wine is made by fellow green-minded Catalonian producer Can Ràfols dels Caus, which is certified organic.

Its rosé, meanwhile, is made by Provence producer Mas de Cadenet.

“It is an honour to work with multi-generational winemakers of such acclaim to produce Avaline.

“Our producer partners exemplify the best of their respective regions and we couldn’t be prouder of their commitment to the same attributes as Avaline, producing clean wines by organic farming and low-intervention production,” said Avaline’s CEO, Abbott Wolfe.

Priced at US$26, Avaline Sparkling went on sale this week on wine.com and at retailers including Meijer, United Grocers and Market Street.
