Taylor’s launches single harvest tawny Port from 1970

Taylor’s has launched a Single Harvest tawny Port from 1970 for wine lovers to mark fiftieth anniversaries and birthdays.

The colheita is the seventh in the series of limited edition 50 year old Port wines from Taylor’s, and has, like the other very old tawnies in the series, been aged in the cool cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia where the conditions are ideal for the development of the rich flavours that characterise very old Port Wine.

Adrian Bridge, managing director of Taylor’s, commented: “Since we launched the first Single Harvest in 2014 we have seen a growing interest from Port Wine lovers and collectors for these rare tawnies. Port Wine is one of those rare wines, which, after half a century of ageing, produces great complexity and elegance.”

Andrew Hawes, managing director of Mentzendorff, Taylor’s UK importer added: “The UK has always been a strong Port wine market, keen to celebrate landmark birthdays and anniversaries with a special bottle. The Taylor’s Single Harvest 1970 is an exceptional quality Port Wine which expresses all the skill and refined elegance of the Taylor’s winemaking team in this 50 year old limited edition.”

Taylor’s Single Harvest 1970 is ready to be enjoyed. The best serving temperature is between 12 and 16ºC. Presented in the classic frosted bottle made famous by Taylor’s Aged Tawny Ports, it comes in a beech wood box. It will be available from fine wine merchants and specialists from the end of May, with a recommended retail price of £220 per bottle.
