British model David Gandy is the latest celebrity to jump on the gin bandwagon with the launch of Savile Row Gin, which pays homage to his fashion roots.

Gandy is an investor and brand ambassador for Savile Row Gin, which launched in London last week at Gieves & Hawkes on Savile Row.

“I look to invest in British start-ups that I believe to be of superior quality with inspirational teams. As a lover of gin, Savile Row Gin stood out from the crowd with its smoothness and flavour,” Gandy said.

The gin is made from 12 botanicals, including kumquat

“I loved the fact that it is a quintessentially British product, produced in the UK and curated on one of Britain’s most iconic streets, which stands for craftsmanship and quality. I’m excited to be part of the team to help expand the brand,” he added.

Savile Row Gin is a London dry gin made from a blend of 12 botanicals, including kumquat and coriander, by distiller Rob Dorsett, who describes the liquid as “a citrus forward, expertly tailored, smooth sipping gin”.

“A Savile Row suit is known universally as the best one can buy. With the name comes a level of expectation. Using the same artistry and attention to detail, we feel we have crafted a gin that the Row would be proud to serve,” said Stewart Lee, founder of Savile Row Gin.

“David embodies the refined elegance and style of Savile Row and I am delighted to have his support, both as an ambassador and investor for the brand,” he added.

Savile Row Gin goes on sale tomorrow at Fortnum & Mason priced at £39.95 per 70cl bottle. It will also be available online via Masterofmalt.com.

The gin can be enjoyed straight up and also works well in classic cocktails like the Negroni and Gin Martini, or a classic G&T with a pink grapefruit and mint garnish.
