Where to celebrate Negroni Week in London

To celebrate Negroni Week, which runs from 24 to 30 June, we look at four of the best bars in the capital for sipping on this classic Italian cocktail.

Launched in 2013 by Imbibe in association with Campari, the event sees bars and restaurants join forces in celebration of the Negroni to raise money for charities across the globe.

Marking the cocktail’s 100th Anniversary, Negroni Week 2019 will take place from 24 to 30 June.

1 Lombard Street Restaurant, Bar & Brasserie

Launched in 2008 by restaurateur Soren Jessen, this iconic establishment celebrated its 20th anniversary in August 2018.

Situated in a Grade-II listed former banking hall directly opposite The Bank of England, 1 Lombard Street was awarded the City’s first Michelin star under chef Herbert Berger.

Featuring a central domed ceiling, large windows and colourful artwork, The Dome Bar is the perfect venue to sample the latest addition to the drinks menu: the White Negroni. Consisting of gin, Vermouth del Professore and Campari, the cocktail is priced at £5 until the end of June.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rotunda, King’s Cross

First opened in 2008, this bar, restaurant and private dining space underwent a notable refurbishment in late 2018.

Transformed into the Venetian-inspired Terrazza Spritz for the duration of the summer months, the canal-side terrace features two outdoor bars serving classic Negronis.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wild Honey St James

Recently re-launched by Anthony Demetre, Wild Honey offers a classic Negroni. In homage to a quote from an interview Demetre gave in October 2018, the cocktail has been named ‘I am very specific with my Negroni.’

The cocktail comprises of Citadelle gin, Wild Honey vermouth, Dispense amaro, Aperol and savoury bitter.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bar Termini, Soho

Perfect for those unaccustomed to the pungent flavours of the Negroni, Bar Termini’s offering comes in a small and delicate glass.

A traditional blend of London Dry Gin, Italian vermouth and Italian bitters infused with bergamot, bottles can also be purchased to take away.
