Wine of the Week: Mirabeau Pure 2016

We at team db want to celebrate the very best bottles from our Global Wine Masters. Every Wednesday, we’ll select a wine that picked up either a Gold or Master from our competition series, and tell you why the judges loved it.

The good weather in London has got us thinking about rosé again.

The Pure from Mirabeau en Provence, which picked up a Gold in our 2017 Masters, is an ultra-quaffable blush for summer.

Mirabeau wines regularly perform well in these kinds of competitions, and the Pure was no exception. The Grenache and Syrah blend, noted for its “attractive nose with red berries” and delicacy, was loved by the judges thanks to its length, light body and fresh acidity, a perfect poolside wine for a hot day.

Antony Moss MW, director of strategic planning, WSET, and one of the judges at the 2017 competition, noted the rosé’s red fruit, peach and melon flavours were in “delicate harmony, evolving on the palate”, while others also picked up a hint of smoke and spice.
