Diageo sells off Indian vineyard
Drinks company Diageo is reportedly selling off its Indian winery, Four Seasons Wines, to Grover Zampa Vineyards, India’s second-largest winery.
The Four Seasons winery and its two brands, ‘Four Seasons’ and ‘Zinzi’, were part of the United Spirits portfolio that Diageo acquired back in 2012.
The drinks giant said that selling off the asset would help it focus on its core spirits range with its Indian CFO, Sanjeev Churiwala, saying Four Seasons was, “a small part of the overall Diageo India portfolio”.
“This deal brings us a step closer to the structural rationalisation and simplification of our India business,” he added.
Four Seasons and all of its assets have been sold off in their entirety, the financial details were not disclosed.
Grover Zampa is the second largest winery group in India, behind Sula Vineyards. It is owned by former banker and keen wine collector Ravi Viswanathan.
