Man pretends to be PM of Morocco to win table

A man struggling to secure a restaurant reservation took the unusual measure to pretend to be the Prime Minister of Morocco to win favour with front-of-house staff, which surprisingly did the trick.

The real Prime Minister of Morocco, Saadeddine Othmani.

As reported by Newshub, the man called to get a reservation at a Russian restaurant but was turned down. Minutes later he called back claiming to be the Prime Minster of Morocco, which was enough to spur the team into locating a table for the man and his son, Ihab.

Arriving at the restaurant, the pair were shown to the best table in the restaurant, with the chef even asking the faux PM to sign a plate for him.

Throughout, the man maintains his character, despite the gleeful reception from the kitchen staff, even standing for a picture of the plate with bamboozled staff.

Recounting the tale on Twitter, Ihab, a personal trainer from New York, wrote: “My dad wanted to make a reservation at a restaurant and they told him that they were completely booked, minutes later he called back claiming to be the prime minister of Morocco….. we got the best table in the place and the chef answer him to sign a plate and take a pic [with] him.”

The identity of Ihab’s father is unknown, but he is clearly not Saadeddine Othmani, the real Prime Minister of Morocco since 2017.
