Summergate takes on Kendall-Jackson wines

Summergate and Jackson Family Wines have announced a long-term partnership for the distribution and marketing of Kendall-Jackson wines in Greater China.

Effective immediately, the new partnership will see the premium Californian wine brand promoted across Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China via Summergate which has offices based in all three areas.

“We’re thrilled to be importing, marketing, and distributing the exceptional California wines of Kendall-Jackson in China,” said Ian Ford, founder and CEO of Summergate.

“Summergate continues to go from strength to strength in delivering great drinks to our customers across Greater China, and Kendall-Jackson is a fantastic addition. As an American born and raised, it’s a point of personal pride for me to wave the flag of Kendall-Jackson high and proud in China,” he continued.

According to China Customs import statistics, not one of the iconic premium wine producers from California achieved more than a 2% share of the US category by volume into China during 2014-2015, which the companies believe presents an opportunity for Summergate and Kendall-Jackson to build a sustainable market for premium Californian wine in China.

“I am thrilled that we are partnering with Summergate for Greater China with Kendall-Jackson,” commented Nick Bevan, executive vice president for Jackson Family Wines’ international sales and business development.

“We are very interested in establishing strong sales of one of America’s most iconic brands in the region, and have been looking for just the right partner to do this with. Ian and his team at Summergate offer the professional experience and knowledge that is required to achieve this goal. I look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Summergate.”

Kendall-Jackson and its fellow brands under the umbrella of Jackson Family Wines was previously represented by ASC Fine Wines in Asia until the partnership ended late last year.
