Produced by VinePair, the most popular beers were determined by market share in each country based on the most recent data available. If recent data was inconclusive or unavailable, the country was not included on the map.

Of the 100 countries includes, brands owned by AB InBev and SABMiller unsurprisingly dominate. AB InBev owns the most popular beers in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Paraguay, Mexico, and Argentina, while SABMiller owns the most popular beers in Colombia, South Africa, Peru and Ecuador, among others.

Last week research by Canadean said the African beer market was set to explode predicting an annual average growth rate of 5% between 2013 and 2017 – making it the fastest growing region in the world. This would outstrip growth in the expanding Asian and Latin American beer markets, which are projected to grow 4% and 3% respectively in the same period.

The report said consumers in Africa are moving away from home-brewed beers and drinks at a growing pace, trading up to commercial beers and then on to more premium products. SABMiller is one major brewer who has stepped up its presence in Africa in recent years in response to it rapid growth.
