Bid for Wine launches spirit sales

Online wine auction house, Bid for Wine, and Dreweatts reported a strong turn out for their inaugural spirits auction earlier this month.

The sale raised £50,000 in total from 190 lots on offer, highlights included a bottle of Rémy Martin Louis XIII for £2,400 and three bottles of Berry Bros bottled 1963 Laphroaig for £2,800.

Bid for Wine’s managing director, Lionel Nierop, said: “The demand for old and collectible spirits is incredibly strong at present. We had bidders from Europe, the US and Asia all competing for these lots.

“Brandy, whisky and other fine spirits mark a natural progression from our current specialism in wine and we look forward to offering buyers and sellers access to some great sales in the future.”

The sale also marked the 12 month anniversary of Bid for Wine and Dreweatts’ partnership, which has, so far, turned over £1.6 million.
