Top 10 red trousers in the wine trade

15th August, 2012 by Lucy Shaw

10: Willie Lebus

The ebullient director of Bibendum often perfects his dandified look with a bow tie, pastel-coloured striped shirt and pink cords, though is known to dabble in the red-legged look. Seen here, Champagne flute in hand, at Quo Vadis restaurant in London’s Soho sporting a fine pair of Burgundy cords matched with a Henley Regatta-esque striped shirt, Lebus is no shrinking violet.

  1. Fifth top red trouser wearer in the wine trade? What a beezer accolade! I’m flattered (and amused) beyond measure!

  2. Tom Harrow says:

Clearly its silly season when respectable wine publications devote time to fluff pieces on fashions in the wine trade, it really shows the decline in….oh hang on – I’m 1st. BRILLIANT! Insightful journalism, topical, relevant, humorous – a triumph. Trebles all round…

(NB – the latest suit is Fleurie-hued 3-piece gabardine from Timothy Everest)

  3. Bear Dalton says:

Where is the irrepressible Stephan von Neipperg on this list?

  4. Lucy Shaw says:

Hi Bear, I wanted to include Stephan in the line-up, but was only able to find a photo of him in this arresting emerald green pair of trousers: http://storage.canalblog.com/16/12/71856/72177268.jpg if you have a pic of him in a red pair then please to email it to me: lucy.shaw(at)thedrinksbusiness.com – many thanks.

  5. Go to http://www.dangeroustrousers.co.uk from beginning of October to see all the colours available.

  6. Glitzy says:

With honorable mention to Stuart Pigott, of course.

  7. Tuggy Meyer says:

Well done Harrow, your Olympic moment. An impressive line-up. Of sorts. But surely one glaring ommission – Comte Neipperg of Chateau Canon-La-Gaffeliere. And surely more Toms in the London Wine Trade similarly attired.

  8. You people make me laugh….

  9. CC says:

Louis Michel Liger-Belair. Famous red trouser wearer: http://bit.ly/Pq73uV

  10. rinjcha says:

    2 favorites = Erni & Jacques

  11. Adrian Laird Craig says:

Will Lyons excellent, but who the master of red trouser from whom he learnt?
ex Bolly man now Woodwinters Adrian Laird Craig, still teaching young bucks how to wear the ratcatcher moleskin.
