Line-up unveiled for NZ trade tasting

New Zealand Winegrowers has confirmed details of its annual UK trade tasting, which takes place on Tuesday 24 January 2012 at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

In addition to showing more than 600 wines on 60 tables, the event will feature two masterclasses and four themed self-pour tables.

The first masterclass will show off the development of New Zealand’s Grüner Veltliner in a session led by Tamra Washington, winemaker at Yealands Estate, and Matt Thomson, winemaker at Saint Clair.

A second masterclass will provide a regional focus on Pinot Noir, with Dr John Forrest, owner of Forrest Estate in Marlborough, presenting examples of the variety from six different regions.

The self-pour tables will offer the chance to explore the latest examples of New Zealand’s sparking wine, Chardonnay and Bordeaux style blends. The final table will host the “Riesling Challenge”, allowing the trade to compare 12 different wines made by different winemakers from the same vineyard.
