J F Hillebrand snaps up Ferry International SRL

JF Hillebrand has strengthened its wine and beverage logistics services in Italy and across Europe with the acquisition of logistics specialist Ferry International SRL.

Based in Milan, Ferry International was founded in 1978 and employs 15 staff. The company provides door-to-door logistics services by road, rail and sea to exporters and importers across Italy.

“Ferry International is an important strategic acquisition for JF Hillebrand Italy, extending our range of service options,” said Gavin Herman, JF Hillebrand area manager for Southern Europe.

“The acquisition also underpins the investment in our European Transport Solutions network.

“Thanks to their skill set and track record, the Ferry International team will play a pivotal role in supporting our ongoing investment in European door-to-door movements.”

JF Hillebrand launched European Transport Solutions last year to expand and strengthen its existing distribution network tailored to the needs of the European wine market.

A JF Hillebrand statement said: “The multimodal portfolio and range of service options – including full truck loads, or smaller consignments – gives customers greater flexibility to better manage their carbon footprint and cost effectively transport what they need, when they need it.

“All movements are supported by JF Hillebrand’s industry-leading online logistics management system, Axis.”

“We are delighted to become part of the Hillebrand Group,” added Brian Skinner, general manager of Ferry International. “It is a very exciting development which presents both companies with a unique opportunity to further enhance levels of specialist service to wine and beverage customers across Italy.”
