Codorniu to sponsor new Channel 4 food series

Codorníu, the Spanish sparkling wine producer, has signed a broadcast deal with Channel 4 to sponsor its new food series, The Secret Supper Club.

The sponsorship will support the entire Codorníu portfolio and is at the centre of the brand’s overall marketing activity in 2011.
 
The Secret Supper Club sees food and drink expert Olly Smith travelling the country to stage a series of suppers prepared by local food producers for mystery guests in an unusual setting.  
 
Codorníu will be building associations with supper clubs throughout 2011, “helping to build awareness and encourage consumers to participate in the informal dining experience, through sponsoring London-based Supper Clubs and sampling wines at supper club events.”
 
Brand manager for Codorníu UK, Jo Sorenson, said: “Just like the show and the supper club movement, Codorníu is about enjoying quality, sociable occasions and informal dining, so this sponsorship is a great fit, encouraging consumers to celebrate the everyday all year round”.
 
A UK micro-site will also be launched from late January as part of the campaign. The 10-week television series will start from 5 February 2011.
