Bordeaux Index unveil real time trading

Bordeaux Index has launched the first real time wine-trading index, which allows users to see the day to day trading for 90 châteaux.

The engine tracks the prices for the most commonly traded wines on the merchant’s LiveTrade market, which was launched in May 2009.

Gary Boom, founder of Bordeaux Index, told the drinks business: “It is the index of the world’s top wines and how they have moved over the day, the week, the month, the year.

“It gives you a benchmark, we’ve taken the guess work out of where the wine markets have gone. This is based on real life trades which is what it should be.”

As well as being able to trade at any time of the day or night, clients will now be able to see the current price that any particular wine is selling at.

For the moment users will only be able to see the present trading prices for the index as a whole.

However, Boom was confident that within three months they would be able to search for wines from individual châteaux and vintages and compare their performance.
