Wine Apps keep rolling out

Two more iPhone Apps have been launched to keep information at wine shoppers’ fingertips.

Y-app, by UK independent Yapp Brothers allows customers to peruse its list, while the Winefindr uses image recognition technology to help customers locate and review a wine.

After taking a photo of the wine label, Winefindr allows customers to receive instant price comparisons, recommendations and tasting notes for that wine.

By sending a message to the retailer on a customer’s behalf, the App also has a function to reserve bottles for customers, meaning it will already be in the basket when you next go shopping online.

Users of Winefindr are encouraged to contribute new wines and tasting notes to keep the database up to date. The App can also be used to suggest wine pairings.

Meanwhile, Yapp Brothers’ App details the wines it lists, together with tasting notes and food matches. An added feature to the Yapp App is that it provides information on the wines’ producers and their respective regions too.

Both Apps are available from iTunes and Winefindr is currently on special offer for £2.99 (down from £4.99) while the Y-app is free.
